2006 Reflections and News
Steve's Stones took a year off from the Doernbecher Charity Auction to regroup a little bit. In some ways the results of our efforts in 2005 were a dissapointment. Especially with regards to the fine pendant set that was the combined efforts of myself and Steve Douglas. This item did not meet reserve price so I sent it back with Steve to display in his store. Imagine my surprise when I picked up my mail and found a check made out to Doernbecher from the sale of the pendant. Turns out that a couple from Connecticut bought this unique item for their anniversary! I now have the privelege of delivering a check in the amount of $1,600 to Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
Another year has passed without us needing their services but it sure is a comfort knowing they are there in case we do. Ashley has been doing well and we pray that continues. Plans are underway for an auction item for 2007. At this point I am not sure if it will be for the Portland Oregon auction or for the one locally here in Douglas County. Inspiration will strike I am sure.
